About

Cloud Fryslân is an initiative to make everything IT related more accessible to everyone.

Cloud Fryslân is derived from the words ‘cloud’ and ‘Fryslân.’ You probably don’t know what the latter means, but shortly explained it's the name of the area where Cloud Fryslân was founded. It's a small area so writing this blog in the local language ('Frisian', which actually is an officially recognized language) would only make it readable to around 600.000 people. Fryslân is an area located in The Netherlands, so Dutch would be an alternative and would have made it available to around 25 million people. While Dutch and Frisian are my native languages as well, I decided to go with English, since it is the most spoken language in the world and the goal is to reach as much people as possible.

I started this blog to write about my own experiences with tutorials included. This hopefully makes the topics I write about relatable and therefore more accessible. Additionally I try to bring some insights into a wide variety of topics, including, but not limited to cloud computing, webhosting, hardware, self-hosted services, operating systems and networking.

Additionally I am actively using this website as a learning opportunity, because everything related to creating and setting up this website is self-thought. This website is 'in production,' so testing will be done on a local machine or a remote development server.

To reduce time spend on coding and developing, certain elements on the website are produced with the assitance of ChatGPT 4. This only applies to HTML, CSS and JQuery.
